Other species? Hrm, my only experience with N. venustus is in a 8x2x2 so they get along well with pretty much everything in that area, there's yellows, C. moori, Champsochromis sp. (unsure of Carel/Spilo), Dimi Comp - was some N. livingstoni in there too but if you're trying to breed it ain't a hot idea - if it's display only they'd be a good choice.

So yeah, what sort of tank is it (purpose wise) & would you want to sell fry if there was any? With plenty of rockwork yellows would be safe enough for instance

In a 4' tank I'd agree with Ash, more female N. venustus (note the small "v"). They are better in bigger colonies anyway. I'd refrain from adding anything else.

If it is a display tank then I have various peacocks, yellows, a dolphin and a black calvus with some others and Fred (the venustus) gets on fine with them.
