mickeyd
This is my first foree into keeping an aquarium and I chose to stock with African's I am now 3 months in ... 2½ weeks ago I noticed my Lombardoi's getting friendly and saw the female picking up eggs, so I bought another tank and moved her into it. Last night I noticed 3 babies peeking from between the rocks - YAY !!! Talk about cute, they are so small but the markings are so well defined What would be the normal clutch size??? Should I also now remove the mother back to the community tank??? ps. wanted to share my joy (even the 'Trouble&Strife' got excited ~ for me, I think)
Richard
Congrats on the fry mate! I know jsut how you feel. The clutch size would have to depend on the size of your female, usually for first timers their clutches are bout 10-15? Adults getting clutches of up to 30-45 sometimes even more. And yes you can put the female back into the main tank unless you want to get her back up to 110% by feeding her up. Once again great work mate. cheers; Richard
Ant
Very young mothers may only have 5 in a brood. These guys were the first fish I bred as well, they are a fantastic fish. I'd do as richard suggested.
