New Tank & cycling

Do you mean get the filter and fish from another tank?

If so, i've done it before, just make sure pH is same and temp is same or the bacteria in your filter will die and cause Nitrate/Ammonia probs. I've actually done this without cycling the new tank. Added half water from the old tank, moved in the fish and filter, then took my time filling it up with new water. It was a 3 foot --> a 4 foot tank. Everything worked out and i didn't lose anyone. Just my experience.

Hi Luke,

Take the fish filter and the water (as long as it will fill more than 50%) and you will be fine. :^:

Just add the fish slowly. Put them in a bucket with water out of the old tank and add water from the new tank over 20 or 30 min.

thanks for all of your replies guys,

I set up the tank today, cant wait till it's ready for fish!

thanks for the tips Ben, I think I'll do that, but the move from the old tank to the new one's about 1.5hrs (at least) so I'll just see how I go.

Brad: At the moment I have a chocolate cichlid, a curviceps, 2 blue acara and a ghost knife. Sorry none of them are breeding so i havent any fry.

Thanks again for your replies, I'll see you all aroud this great new forum!
