Luke Austin
hey all, I'm thinking of putting a couple of Spangled Perch (15cm) into a tank with a Sleepy Cod, an Oscar, a plec and a pair of Polleni (15+cm). The tank is 6x2x2, just wondering if anyone has ever kept these before and how agressive they are. I know they're going to be a bit fiesty, they are native after all! Cheers, Luke. Ged
Here is some information that I was able to locate. Spangled Perch I have not keep them but from what I have read they generally don't get on with tank mates.
Mr_Puddlesworth
Yeah they are an alright fish. Very high levels of inter-specific aggression. Also tend to hammer other natives. Will tend to leave cichlids and the like alone but will eat anything they can fit in their mouths. Personally I would go for some yellow bar tailed grunters, they dont grow as large as spangled perch but have much better colouration and are just as active as the spangled's. If your going to throw a few in then they will most likely just hammer each other so get a few and hope they don't gang up on any individual fish good luck
