OziOscar
Hello! I have a batch of Red Empress that are about 5 cm SL and am hoping to know what visible sexual dimorphism there might be (ie how to know boys from girls by looking)? There is one that is an obvious male as he is beginning to colour up but the others are retaining their stripes at the moment. Could those be F? Cheers - OziOscar. Peter_Gun_Riff
well the males start ot colour at the gill cover first in my cases when ive raised them but my breeding males were coloured when i started looking after them
Aquaman
My Red Empress coloured up fairly late. Colour is the only way you can sex them IMO. Several of my subdominant males have only just started colouring up, previously I thought they were girls. I think they're around 8cm or so now.... OziOscar
Looks like I just need to bide my time another couple of months until the rest catch up to the alpha male... Cheers - OziOscar.
