Ged
I think you are referring to Anubias rather than Anibus who is an ancient Egyptian God of the dead. I find that my plants do better in a pH that is closer to neutral (7). Thats not to say you can't grow them in an African setup. There are other factors that you need to consider when growing them. You will also need to consider lighting, fertilser regime and carbonate hardness.

BlakeyBoyR
Water conditions of 6.5-7 are ideal for plants. Water with a lower PH usually has, by its very nature, a higher concentration of carbon dioxide, which plants utilise in growth.
10050460
hey mark 1,,,what u can do is, set up a 1ft or 2ft tank and grow your anubias from there,,,once u get alot u can transfer them to your cichlid tanks!!!,,, in your cichlids tank, it wont grow, but will tank a lifetime to die! its alot more easier and cheaper to grow plants from a small tank becuz of the small concentration of area of the tank, the fertilisers and lights is distributed easier! i have a 5x2x2(500lts) and a 2ft tank, the difference in the growth rate and cost between these 2 is HUGE!!,,but the 2ft produce more plants faster than the 5ft!
