novafishy
well ive kept a S.eel before. and i could NEVER find it. always hiding in the gravel. I'm sure your heavily planted tank will create a jungle that as soon as you put it in the tank, you wont find it ever!

Dark Morelia
I have kept a couple of them, and Wes is right, once they're in, you very rarely see them, if at all. They are super good escape artists as well, need good fitting lids with them. I don't know about them being aggressive, never heard of it. Never seen it (LOL). I don't know if the last one I had escaped, was eaten, or died, but it wasn't there when i changed the substrate. I think i saw it's head once poking out of the gravel, a day or so after I got it, and not at all after that. But they are cute, and interesting to watch in the bag on the way home from the shop. Gargamel
i had a reasonably large one until it ate all my tetras and started on some reasonably big platties. i think it then chocked on whatever it started on next and died. they are better with bigger stuff like angels, gouramis and silver sharks, etc.
parrdog
I used to keep them in a community setup but they were only small so I didn't have any probs with predation. They are carnivores though so I gues the 'if it fits in its mouth' rule applies. Take note on the escape artist rule and the use of tight fitting lids. Mine would escape from the corner of the glass lids, that bit that is cut away for your filter intakes etc. If your lids aren't super tight, they'll find a way outa there. They are cute little fellas, good luck with 'em, Jamie.
Ged
I had one in my community tank that I kept a breeding pair of Kribensis. The fry found the wriggling tip of the Spiny Eel that was sticking out of the gravel irresistible. This was their undoing. I got rid of it as I was losing too many. anchar
I agree with most of the comments here. I bought 6 to increase the odds of seeing one at least....occassionally I catch a glimpse. I never see them eat but the fact that I still see one at least after 8 months assures me that they are feeding. Andrea
619 Fish GOD
Interesting Do They Eat Prawns (Not The Live Ones )
anchar
I guess they would provided they were small and preferably peeled. Mine seem to relish frozen bloodworm, but depending on the tankmates this might not be an option for you. Andrea

Ant
A good tip for keeping these guys i was given courtesy of Mark (Eagleman) was to feed them live earthworms. It seems to keep their immune system in tact and they don't die off for no particular reason like they have been known to do. Anthony
