oracle
I came home today to find a badly injured male A.calvus - with one missing eyeball (left eye) and another badly-scratched eyeball (right eye). I have placed him in a small plastic enclosure while I nurse the right eye back to health. In the meantime, I am not sure if the "good" eye is actually damaged as he seems to be tilted slightly on his right side. What's the best medication to nurse this eye back quickly? I have used some Melafix but he doesn't seem to look any better. Considering that he might end up being blind in both eyes, what's the best way of feeding him? Matthew
G'day Oracle I would suggest you start feeding the fish whatever it is used to eating. Keep trying different foods until you find something that will get them eating. Don't worry too much about them being blind, most fish seem to easily adapt. oracle
Thanks for the response. I have placed him a fry saver and have been hand feeding him for the last week. It doesn't look like he can see very well though as he seems to have cataracts on his "good" eye.
Ash
Maybe PM Aquamojo about hand feeding - he mentioned it in his photo thread about his 14yo blind female Midas
