Around his neck and legs. He is eating very happily and seems very heathly. Anyone know if this is normal?
Thanks Tim

Author: YeW2001

Hi Tim,

I think all reptiles shed... not certain but doesn't seem too abnormal to me.

Author: slotha

Cheers for the reassurance. I can now put my tired head and aching body to bed.
Tim

Author: E4G13M4N

As the turtle grows it sheds its skin, some people mistake this for a form of fungus

The flakeing of the shell *Skutes* isn't very noticeable in baby turtles
but when they are adults you can finish up with a tank full of thin square fragments.. To put it simple as the shell grows underneath the old layer flakes off .. Similar to a yabby but not in one peice
HTH

^Mark^

Author: slotha

How long will they keep sheding for(till they stop growing probaly)? The carapace is about 8-10cm. I have read that i should be adding some sort of Anti-fungus block which helps prevent alot of diseases. Is this true or are they pretty hardy and don't really need it? Tim

Author: E4G13M4N

The Dr Turtle blocks can help in that area so can adding a little rock salt ..
If the water qualityand diet is good and you give them some sunlight and or UV generally you should never have a problem..
Shedding will occur as long as they are growing ..

Which type of turtle is it ?

^Mark^

Author: slotha

They are Eastern Long-Necks. Got 1 from a lady breeder out Windsor and the other from a breeder at Ryde.
Tim
