ikan
I like yout tank emp1re. Can you tell me the light setup? Do you use normal gravel with fertliser etc? I am thinking of setting up a planted tank again on my 4x2x2. I tried it about a couple years ago but it didn't work maybe because I use a wrong fluro bulb aquarelle which is 10,000 K. I had 4 x 36 watts. What is the temperature of your tank?
emp1re
the tank is 4x2x2 with a mini-reef filter system. i used normal gravel with bottom 1/3 contains flurolite. and Manutec plant spike near the roots of the plants. i used 4 x 36w flouro tubes (NEC tri) I used to have a compressurised co2 tank with the tank but the type of filteration that i used made it useless to pump co2 into the tank. The important things is the plants selection: I only selected the plants that; 1. requires low lighting 2. tough 3. slow growth (relatively speaking) 4. low maintance my favourite is anubias, aquaria.com.au have some special deal on it
ikan
Thanks Emp1re. Now I know that 4x36 watts is enough for slow growing plants. I have trickle filter on my tank so it's pointless to have CO2 setup too. How imporrtant is it to use flurolite on the gravel. Do you also use liquid fertliser? emp1re
I found that plants with extensive roots system and low lighting requirement is more suitable for tank set-up that will house big fish. And regularly insert of the plant spike near the roots of the plants is sufficient. SO flourlite(i was just testing it out) is not important in this type of tank set-up, but good in high growth plants tank set-up fertiliser: i used PMMD,
