mickgibbo
Hello, I have just set up my new rack and was wondering what is the best way to clean the tank that is on the ground?? Thanks
j.s
i'd probably use a syphon with a large intake to clean the substrate - you can make these or buy them at any aquarium store. Obviously the syphoning force will be weaker than if you were trying to syphon the top tank - but to remedy this all you need to do is put the outlet of the hose somewhere lower than the bottom tank (i.e. down a drain). Hope this helps!
mickgibbo
Thanks for that, I will have to hook up some sort of hose system I think, I need a powered one some how
ViS
If it's only waste and not gravel that is likely to be picked up, just attach a small powerhead to the gravel syphon. The waste going through the powerhead should not damage it. Then I'd consider leaving the bottom tank without substrate in it. then it will be easy to clean with a powerhead attached to a hose.
