tfoster
Hey all, Just wondering if anyone has mixed coral and limestone substrate. I would like to just use coral, but the cost is too much (Stuart I still want the coral you have ). The cost of crushed limestone is better priced and easier to come by. So has anyone mixed the two, or can give me some advice on my substrate. The tanks so you know will be for African Mbuna's Cheers Tim.
chrisandelana
Tim, There should not be any problem with mixing the two substrates that I can think of. One thing to be aware of is that if the grain sizes are different then you may find that the larger gains will always sit on top of the substrate. So if you want the two different substrates to mix then make sure both substrates are a similar size grain. An example of this is if you were to mix sand and gravel then the sand would work its way to the bottom and you would end up with a layered effect Hope this helps, Chris
