emp1re
50% water change is TOO much. and you forget to dechlorine the water this probably stress the Aro out. DO things to minimise stress to the Aro: 1. turn off the light 2. take out some tankmates if u can 3. add Stressguard 4. when they are stress, the Aro will have a weak immune system so i would like to add melafix 5. reduce feeding 6. keep the temp high e.g 29 degree 7. increase oxygen by using a air pump
Ant
It's not just what the clorine does to the fish you have to worry about, you also have to worry about the clorine killing all the bacteria in your filter. If infact it did this you will have an amonia spike in the short future or it is ammonia causing the problems with the fish's eyes. I would dose the tank with 2 gm's of marine (or rock) salt per litre (although i dont know how the arros are affected by salt, so if this is the wrong thing to do can someone please correct me). Anthony PS: If any one can think of a better treatment feel free to correct me
emp1re
Rock salt is fine on the Aro, i do add it to the tank now and then. IMO, the 50% water won't have a major effects on causing a ammonia spike maybe a miminal amount. But if you are concern about it, you can add some prime or seachem SAFE. Ant
you also have to worry about the clorine killing all the bacteria in your filter The 50% water change wouldn't be enough to cause ammonia problems but the clorine possably is .
exoticsrme
50% water change is preety steep to start with let alone without water ager ouch. if your arowana only has a cloudy eye & it isnt dead your a lucky boy 25% water change weekly is quite enough offcourse depending on the amount & size of your fish! i would definately add rock salt & add stress coat because your aro will definately stress and stress will kill your arowana! especialy silver arowana's (empire sugested melafix) (rock salt) (stress coat) i would do exactly that! i noticed pictures of your silver & the lower jaw (mouth)of your silver is way past the upper jaw! is it maybe the angle of pic? emp1re
Yeah, the upper and lower jaw not even. It will become more visualable when the Aro get older.

johnwilly1000
u guys r right i've always looked on net but didnt realise that most of other peoples aro mouth is in line. the reason is cause i've seen shop aro and friend aro which had same mouth problem. from the start i loved it cause it made aro look a lot meaner and gave it more character. plus i also read that when jaw is out of line it could likely be a male as to a female jaw is inline. never the less i still would like the jawline of mine to go high, just my preference
