cmfir1
I'm in the process of acquiring a few barrels in order to age the water and get it to the right temparture (using a 300 w heater in the barrel) and attributes before adding it to my tanks. I am toying with several different ideas on how to get the water to the required state before adding to the tanks. After a bit of reading, and limtied knowledge, I'm thinking of placed a small layer of crushed coral in the barrel and then add tap water to it and in theory the water will get to the required state without any additives (including de-chlorinator, maybe the use of an air stone to circulate the water) Does any one have any thoughts / comments on this? Also any information from anyone who has done something similar or conducted a mini experiment, for the time that it takes the water to get to the required state using crushed coral. ie. 2 days or weeks? Thanks, Clinton.
Mbuna
'nigel' runs heater water barrels in his fish room using seachem salts and buffer to bring the water to the correct paremeters, maybe you could contact him about it.
