bennyboy
wonderin if these were available in Oz and how much approx ← I have never heard of Black Aros being available in OZ They look too similar to the Silver Aro and would cost substantially more so I dont see them being imported here..... silvers are being bred locally now and are only going to get cheaper whereas black aros would have to come in illegally. I would like one too but just doesnt seem likely

Alex
I remember (some time back now) that a large one was sold on this very forum over in Sydney. Can't remember the specifics but their was a big fuss at the time. Blacks IMO and far nicer looking then silvers, more elegant (if possible) I also prefer the adults colouration of silvers. Wouldn't mind 10-15 of these guys myself Alex
wui39
How long do the blacks keep the colour? I thought when they approach maturity they eventually lose it and look the same as the normal silvers.
Alex
Their black and white dissapears by 12". If you know your arowana well, silvers and blacks are easily distinguished, and look quite different.

wui39
Perhaps one in real life as well would be nice. Pictures can only tell you so much.
10050460
Wui, the picture only tells you limited things. the black and white disappears depending on the environment aswell, and it varies from 10 to 15inches. not sure if you went to those fish shop during your last trip, but they kept the silver and blacks together and nearly all the breeders couldnt tell the difference. so it depends purely on luck and guesses at Some Stage.
