There wasn’t a meeting this month as I believe there wasn’t enough committee members. But the club will be back as per usual next month.

It is a great idea to keep a breeders register so we can keep fish going in the hobby so we can enjoy and hopefully other hobbyists can also enjoy in the future as they enter the hobby and for generations into the future.

I just wish there was a solution that as a community we could come up with. Life changes and people always move fish on and species are lost and as we all know, it is so hard to get in fish to Australia again.

In 2018 I had to sell off all my tangs because of personal reasons.
Come 2023 I have found myself able to keep a rack again and have been looking to purchase a number of species which I used to keep.I am finding it very difficult to find fish and seems that we may be losing fish as people lose interest in them.
Is anyone else having this problem?
Some of these fish include,
olavecious
tetracanthus
savoryi
variabilichromis moorii
just to name a few.

I was looking at the juli Ornatus but there seems to be a breeder or two with fry so hopefully can obtain a few once ready.

Hi all
i wanted to ask if importing of African cichlids to Australia is still happening.
years back we used to have frequent imports coming into the country and then the laws changed I believe with that testing for the disease and I haven’t really seen anyone importing like before?

I do find they breed a lot in the warmer months though

I have cherry shrimp outside and the gun leaves fall in and they are all doing really well still. Not sure if this helps but shrimp are usually sensitive to things and they are thriving and breeding.

I always used Eheim or Fluval canister filters in the past and they pretty much lasted forever.
I have tried some other brands but didn’t find them as long lasting.
That is my experience.
