Barca888
I picked up some pool filter sand and some argonite sand from the aquarium store. I used to think the argonite buffers the water to a high ph and the pool filter sand left it neutral. However on both of the packages it has 90-100 percent silicate SiO2. Do both increase the ph? I was hoping the pool filter sand left it neutral :\
a_devis
As far as I know, SiO2 stands for Silicon Dioxide - absolutely non soluble material widely used in electronics industry. It is also known as Quartz. Your question is: what are the other 10% ?
Barca888
Well i know the stuff called arganite looks like crushed sea shells so it will raise the ph. However im probably forgetting what u said about it being non-soluble and that other elements categorise the sand. The other 10 percent.
