novafishy
yeh you can get the plastic tubs from "the warehouse" or "clints bargains", reject shops...etc... they are mostly translucent, and i doubt u will find transparent ones... i am using translucent ones at the moment. you can get big 150L ones or 50L ones...price difference isnt' much either. good investments for fry grow outs. but make sure your heater doesnt come in contact with the sides of the plastic tubs
Burek
thanks for that novafishy damn just have to settle for the translucent ones would the 150 litre one be big enougth to breed fish liek eletric yellows etc?
novafishy
well....just at the top of my head, my 150L is about 2.5ft long x 2ft wide and about 1.75-2ft deep. but the top is wider than the bottom. and i find that the plastic isn't too strong, so i only fill the water about 75% full. if not the sides bulge out too much, and i dont feel safe. you'd be better off breeding e.yellows in a bigger tank IMO, but if a big plastic tub is all you can afford, by all means use it. ive used my plastic tubs for all kinds of fish...they work great, simply cos they are so cheap! another tip: if you go down to the bargain stores as mention in my above post, find the tubs with a slight crack in the lid (they always have some sort of a crack, or imperfection) and take it to the counter, and tell them the lids crack, they usually give you a few more dollars off the total price. i got a 150L tub, 100L, 50L, and a 10L all for $30. cheap eh? haha!
