Kat
Ok, well I'm trying to find quotes on a 4 x 2 x 2 foot tank + cabinet, and I was just wondering if anyone had some good recommendation on where to buy. I'm trying to bribe everyone to chip in $$$ so I can buy a decent sized tank for my birthday. I live out in the SW area, so some where close would be great, but if they deliver area's not a problem. Thanks Kat
folkner
Try Trans at Canley Vale. They seem pretty reasonable on prices for glass and will deliver if you pay for it. You other option is that there is new Aquarium on Heathcote Rd Moorebank (Cant remeber the name) that have been advertising some good prices in the trading post but I havent bought off them so I cant vouch for the quality. Cheers Folkner

Repz
both =) but if i was to choose 1 i would go wit sump and get a canister later
Kat
Ok, so why a sump first and then canister later??? Confused. So canister filters are better in the long run??
Repz
not really just when you have an established sump there is alot more media and bio bugs to hold and keep your fish tank safe, with a sump there must be a weir overflow which doesnt do much for floating particles it just takes water from the top while a canister will filter mechanically too and take small particles from bottom of the tank but if i was to choose only 1 filter i would go with the sump like i do rite now wit my 5x2x2
John McCormick
Hi Kat, I've never had a sump but have seen how well they perform, I think they are probably a must have when buying new. The main reason I would imagine that Repz said start with sump and add canister later would be that all holes required for the sump would be drilled in the tank at tank making stage, they are very difficult that is near impossible to do once the tank is up and running. A canister on the other hand can be added whenever you like. Good luck with the tank. John.

Repz
how much was the price quote for the 4x2x2 cabinet hood n eother accessory i think at monacco its 1000+ not too sure but i fink 1100+ with gravel light , filter (sump) weir overflow tank
Kat
Ahh much clearer now. Even though the sump only filters from the top, regular water changes & gravel cleaning would be ok. i think. Wow 1000+ for a 4x2x2, ummm was hopeing for something a little more cheaper. But thats for the gudie line in price. Will have to shop around. Wasn't able to look around on the weekend.
