bishop
This is for all those fish keepers who think clean filter tubing is not important. I just cleaned the tubing of my Eheim 2213 with fishing line and a sinker. I did nothing else to the filter. The flow rate has increased by about three times. Its like having a new filter. Quieter too.
Loachman
Never thought about cleaning it with a sinker... will have to try that. Thanks!
graceless
that's a great idea. i just usually stuff it full of filter wool and flush it through with water. works ok, but not awesomely. how often should a filter be cleaned? Grace
bishop
I can answer the question about how offen. I just noticed that the filter was getting noisy and that the flow was reduced. The tubes were not blocked but the biuld up in the tube was effectivly reducing the the internal diameter of the tube a bit like blocked arteries (I think the filter was about to have a coronary). I got the idea of fishing line and a sinker from a discussion thread about a week or two ago. http://scp.ipbhost.com/index.php?showtopic...indpost&p=40560 And while we are on the topic of good ideas. Who ever suggested a pepper grinder to grind pellets for was fry is brilliant. It works a treat.
Peter_Gun_Riff
i put a sinker thru the hose then place a peice of cloth to the end and pull it thru it gets everything out like brand new i though of that my self lol
Gigitt
I got the idea of fishing line and a sinker from a discussion thread about a week or two ago. http://scp.ipbhost.com/index.php?showtopic...indpost&p=40560 Twas My Idea... Glad you liked it. Yes it REALLY does help your filtration - flow rate is vastly improved as well as putting less strain on you pump. i put a sinker thru the hose then place a peice of cloth to the end and pull it thru it gets everything out like brand new i though of that my self lol Your Ideas is even more Ghetto than mine! I like the Idea of using a small rag/cloth strip... My ideas is just a modification on something I bought to to the job - but so way faster! Don't know why I did not think of that... My dad and I use this method for cleaning/finishing the inside of our ShotGun and Rifle barrels... but we use heavy cord and cloth, as sinkers or metal weights inside a barrel causes scratching! Peter_Gun_Riff
thanks we clean our guns with a rod with a sponge thing at the end that i made it metal work works a treat
Gigitt
Yeah we got the rods too... but there is a barrel finishing liquid we use and you have to apply it with a cloth strip on a string - it helps keeps the gunpowder from sticking to the grooves affecting the spin or damaging the bullet scoring so that it is out of ballance when spinning... so the theory goes!
