Gav
Hiyas, last week I noticed one of my fronty's had a bit of a lump on its side. it didn't change much over the weekend and she was eating fine. this week it seems to be bigger. here are some photos side view top view one tope view 2 any idea at all what it might be? it is mainly around the lateral line. if you look at the top views you can see how large it is. the side view gives an idea on where it is. just want to know what I might be able to do to treat this thanks
anchar
Hi Gav, Sorry about your fish....sounds a little like a bacterial problem. Perhaps someone else could suggest the best medication for this. Perhaps Pimafix or a more specific bactercide would prove useful. How high are your nitrates? merjo
Gav
nitrates should be very low, they get at least 25% water change per week. I can't honestly say I test them cos they have never really been an issue. will see if I have a test kit tonight. I used melafix last night, just as a general sorta thing. didn't have much else. one other thing to note, I did notice a small protrusion from under her eye, in like a bag type thing. grey in colour. this only appeared once I netted her, maybe from exertion, I dunno. just thought it may be useful info. Fixem
Hi Gav Sorry about the fish. I had a very similar looking "cyst type" of swelling on my Geophagus. It appeared just under the dorsal fin, but was on the body. I had at the time been a bit remiss in the water changes I changed the water twice a week (30%) for 3 weeks and it just dissappeared as quickly as it appeared. I never put any meds in the water and none of the other fish were affected, so it was not contagious. Hope you manage to save it.
