Guest Gutty
Yesterday i swapped one of my mates a carton of Crownies for a small Eheim canister. It's short, and square. I believe the smallest one. 2222 possibly ?? Is there anything i should know about this filter before starting it up ? Also after a few opinions...... I was planning on running this on a 6x18x18 along with an AC500. I would fill the eheim 100% with matrix and use it purely as a bio filter, leaving the AC500 for mechanical. Though having just realised how much this little eheim pumps i'm not sure it's up to the task. My current set up is 2 AC500s, both 3/4 filled with matrix and then a sponge on top. Would you guys and girls go with the 2 AC500s as described above, or the eheim as bio and an AC500 as mechanical ? Thanks Matt
Guest Gutty
So no one on here uses Eheim filters ?? Opinions sure are hard to come by around here........ Well for anyone interested....... I had a chance to play with it last night and found a model number. It's a 2226 and pumps 950LPH which will be just dandy combined with an AC500 on my 6fter. I hooked it up and gave it a run, works like a charm. Well worth the carton of Crownies.
bob12369
Yep a good swap there, The 2226 is a good filter. Straight forward in design and there isnt really much that goes wrong with them. Just maintain the impellor and ceramic shaft and make sure all the O-rings are ok. It will do up to a 350L aquarium according to EHEIM but full of Ehfisubstrat/Pro it will do fine for a biological filter in conjunction with the AC500. Just an idea though, put a coarse filter pad in the bottom of the very bottom media basket and then fill the rest with media, cuts down on the maintenance. Good swap for the crownies. Cheers.
