Aquaman
Hi Folks, As the descriptor says, I have a Rena heater (top of the line at the time of purchase) with moisture inside, should I be concerned? I suspect this heater is on it's way out. It's roughly 12 years old but has only been used for 4 or 5 of those years. I'd hate to learn the hard way (by loosing valuable fish) that this heater is about to die. Feedback appreciated please. Cheers Richard
Ducksta
If theres moisture in there, it must be leaking. Water and the internal workings of electrical devices are best kept seperate IMO.
saudukar
I never quite get aquarium heaters. They have a marking for minimum water level but when left out above that point the rubber stopper in the top of the heater becomes oxidized and decays easily. But if you submerse the heater lower then the rubber stopper you risk mosture getting into the heater itself. I could be on channel 2's "the new inventor" if I could manufacture a heater with a float level to constantly keep a heater both below the minimum water level and above the water level for the rubber stopper. Or design a damn rubber polymer that both worked well in air and water for water retention.
