Ant
I believe 2 out of 3 of my keyholes have worms. I treated 3 weeks ago when i suspected they all had worms, one has come good and the other 2 are still very scinny and not eating. I'm thinking they may be doomed is there anything i can do? i believe the treatment didn't work because they wouldn't ingest the medication because they aren't eating. Kribbie
Do you have pics of your sick fish? A close up would be good to identify the type of worms they've got. If you've got some pics, please post it up here. What medication you've been using? I think they might have internal parasites...one of the most common internal worms is camellanus, these little worms can often be seen hanging their tails outside the fish's anus. They are bright red coloured and can only be seen when the fish is relaxed (not stress). Since your fish is not eating, the worms are sucking their blood so making the fish become skinny day by day...and finally at the last stage, the infected fish will died because of malnutrition. You should seperate those infected ones and put them into a hospital tank. Do some water changes and add some salt in there. Hope this help. anchar
Hi Ant, Have you tried using a product called Big L...or any Pig and Poultry wormer (available at stockfeeders). It is a liquid which is administered into the water and very successful for worm treatment. Use at 1mL per 7L merjo
E4G13M4N
Levamysol {spelling} Should work as well but can only get that through a vet basically.. But as Merjo suggested Pig and Poultry wormer from the Grain and fodder stores in SA work as well ..
saudukar
Home remedies are really good to. Try crushed fresh garlic in beefheart or turkey heart mixture for worms. I find camellanus are realy common in dwarfs (especially kribs and keyholes) why this is so I dont know. But you can see the little buggers hanging out (no pun intended). Agian to get rid of these you will probably need a chemical solution.
