Transporting fish from auction to home ~3 hours

Hi,

I'm thinking of the best way to transport the fish home from the auction. Should I;

1- leave the fish in the bags, in styrofoam boxes with a heat pack; or

2- bring some food grade buckets with fresh water and a battery powered air stone with a heat pack on the outside to keep them from dropping too much temperature?

Thanks,

Michael.

So would you just dose a little prime or do a 100% water change?

I'd only go for 100% fresh water in the bag if the fish were looking really rough or the water was fouled.  A few drops of Prime if I was opening the bag to put a bit more air in.  Mostly though I just leave them as is in the bag they came in.

There was a time years ago that the big auctions would run until the early hours of the morning. I can remember bagging fish at 6am before traveling to Sydney, all day and evening at Auction and then get back home at 2am to float fish in the tanks.

The fish will be fine.
