Donny Brasco
Guys this is a bit of a weird one but i just wanted some advice or reassurance. To give you a bit of background all my fish i keep at one of my workshops (i have 3 factorys building race cars) Im sick of leaving my big tank out the back where i never get to see it so i want to bring it into my main workshop so i can look at all my awesome fish all the time. It wont fit in my office so im planing on putting it out in the workshop against the back of my office near the kitchen, the only things im worried about is noise and fumes. Its quite often we will crank the tunes in my shop when we are heads down bums out cranking out work, my fish are really no stranger to base thumbing music to be honest but can you see any serious issues with loud music? they dont seem to get scared and hide its all just normal for them but curious if its not ideal for them. The other thing is the fumes, its often we need to drive cars in and out of the shop or start a car up on the hoist and rev the guts out of it, 98ron, e85 some times avgas. its a 350sqm workshop so its not like we get gasses out but im sure the fumes would be floating around, do you think its possible for the fumes to some how get into the tank and contaminate or cause the fish some harm? The tank in question is a 5x2x2 and will have a top on it so its not open but of course air still gets in. Please help me decide if this is a good idea or not
Buccal
Mate I wouldn't worry,, concerns would maybe only minutely begin if you built a pond on the edge of a freeway. your situation is a miniscule of that. Sound referring to vibration in the water,,,, I've had half shot pond pumps raging away in aquariums full of fish will a mad crazy vibrating noise through the water, they just adapt. Donny Brasco
yeah thought so, where i have a room sectioned off in one of my factorys at the moment as my "fish room" that factory is actually used as a man cave, it houses my race cars but also has a bar, pool table, big tv and quite a large sound system (we use it for gigs and events for stadiums) and i often crank that during water change day and its never really fased them so wasnt to concerned about that in the main shop it was more so thinking about the odd times there are fumes in the air that they may contaminate the water but its not like the cars are backed onto where the tank would be there still a good 10+meters away just as long as a car idleing 10-20meters away for 10 mins isnt going to kill my fish then i think it will be ok
intangcity
couldnt hurt to add a fan near the tank turn the fumes away not right at the tank though cos fumes will be sucked through the back of the fan as well
Donny Brasco
Yeah good point I do have 3 large fans mounted to the walls beside it so that will.be perfect for blowing fumes away
