Kamz
This was the end result of a few unfortunate fish..RIP. Gissel 15cm - Taiwan reef 12cm - 2 Red Rubins 12cm - 2 phenochilus tanzania 11-12cm My 14 adult Demasoni wanted to breed so they got a bit more vicious than normal -I noticed slight wounds on the side of some fish, then that night 12 cuckoos (synodontis multipunctatus) went on a feeding frenzy and attacked the wound. (the bastards)By morning they had dug out the wound to the bone and the parent fish past away. I saw the cuckoos attacking a minor scrape on the sides of other fish and decided it was time for 1 or the other to go. Demasoni or Cuckoos?I just sold all the Demasoni and decided to keep the Cuckoos.. Since the Demasoni was the one creating the wounds in the first place.Has anyone encountered anything like this before?
myster619
Cuckoos are cool. They look very trendy with their leopard skin. And do a great job at cleaning the excess food. Demasonis are a bitch. When I had them, I had 10 initially, a few months later I had 2 left. Then one day just 1.
Josh
I have kept and bred demasoni for years and while I agree they are nasty, I have found it only to be to their own species. I have never seen a demasoni create a whole in a fishes head like what is shown in the pictures.

luis
A few months back my lucipinnis were aggravating a wound on one of my saulosi females. This went on for a few days, I then separated her and the wound healed pretty quickly. I even posted a video of the strange behaviour, I will try to find it later. Do you feed your cuckoos directly or let them live off leftovers?

Do you feed your cuckoos directly or let them live off leftovers?I feed a mixture of pellets, sinking pellets, flakes and wafers... I tend to overfeed my fish, so being hungry shouldn't be the problem, but in saying that fish are generally always hungry.. Cuckoos are a scavenging opportunistic fish that eats anything they can find...
