YAL05T
Okay, so the issue with my car (off topic I know) has inspired me to redo my tank in the nearish future.I am looking for advice on the best option. Looking for low noise and low power consumption. I guess the reefers who hang about here might be the best source of info. My tank is pretty catfish heavy so I am trying to keep the water moving and waste heading towards my filter (filters hopefully) by the time this all comes together.Looking forward to any replies and or advice. malawi sand diver
The thing I have found with powerheads is that it depends on how much cash you want to spend on them, e.g. you could get a vortech propellar pump with remote control to adjust speed, which would be awesome, but also with the price tag to match. Entry level is around $330 up to $850. Then there are the Hydor Koralia range that are well made with the magnetic attachment, that will have not as high a price tag you will still be forking out between 120 and 250 for them. The other option, the road I have taken for the moment until I can afford the above, is the cheap powerhead wavemakers on ebay that only consume 6W and don't make any sound. They do the job and are only 20-40 bucks. If you look at the ones on ebay, make sure they come with an aussie power adapter. One day I will go with something like the Vortech - would be handy to blast it on full ball and blast out the detritus before a water change.
