FRY pricing help

I have fry of WC aulonocara blue neon and of WC Aulonocara Maulana. They are about 3-5cm. Please kindly advise me what should be fair pricing for them. I don't want to over price them. Well no question about under pricing as I will grow them all myself..lol

As I guide with stuff like this, ie f1 fish I would look at pricing my fry unsexed at around 1/4 of the adult price to breeders (less for bulk), but to shops whatever the going rate is. Breeders care about lineage average Joe cares about price. At the end of the day it is what people are prepared to pay.

i reckon about 4-5cm would fetch $7-$10 to breeders, shops would pay less.

Peacocks are so hard to sell.

I was using my Wild caughts adult peacocks as hosts for cuckoo's because I couldnt get rid of the fry.

They are only worth what someone is willing to pay. Be happy if you can offload them at all. If you get $1 per centimeter your going OK.

yeah i agree maybee you dont get heaps more for f1 they just sell better good luck anyway 5 or 6 bux id ask id get them to at least 5cm but

Not to say a private sale couldn't get $7-10 for 5cm fish.
But you'd need to have them at the right time, when someone else is desperate for them.
Unfortunately there is not a lot of demand for plain grey fish from the general public, so they will always be hard to move at the rate they breed.

in retrospect josh and the duck are correct. I would be willing to pay 7-8 a fish for quality peacocks (like the blue neon you have) and I would be buying 10 or so at 5cm. In saying that I have gotten something like that at nswcs meetings for baenschi "Benga" before, but that is not the norm.

The best thing you have in your favour is you know the

origins of the fish and that the adults are wild caught

push that when selling

also use a pic of the breeding male when you sell as

it will be what can push a buyer to your fish

pricing as what the guys have said $8-10 @ 4-5cm

for online sales and wholesale to LFS expect $5

but always have pics of the males handy

It's a tough one trying to sell peacock fry as there isn't much demand. Hobbyists these days are after the mbuna species for the colour. As you are well aware electric yellows have the highest demand. You would need a real enthusiast to purchase your fry and ace is a great place to start. If you can ship interstate that will broaden your market
