Teamsherman
Hi guys,I've done a quick search but have only come up with things on google relating to drains and piping in regards to Bathroom Flys. Is there a fish-safe method of eradicating bathroom flys from aquarium filters ect? I have some of them I fear breeding in an all in one filter unit and want them gone. I've scrubbed it all down and washed the filter material in the tanks own water but I'm guessing that is probably counter-productive??I know how to rid them from the pipes and drains but am after a solution for the filter. Cheers,Alan.
Phenomena
Hi Alan,I'm sorry I don't have a solution for you. However, I'm interested to know how you get rid of them from drains? I have this problem in my shower. I've been using cloudy ammonia. It works great. However, they always come back once I stopped the ammonia, gradually increasing their numbers.TIA... Teamsherman
Phenomena, I just use draino in all the drains and that gets them gone, but I think unless you get your pipes cleared professionally they'll just keep coming back through the warmer months. Teamsherman
It's a basic waterfall type filter where the water is pumped up and onto some filter wool and a carbon cartridge then drains back into the tank.

Teamsherman
It's got a cover over it but there are some smallish gaps here and there, nothing I can do about though.
