Noddy65
Hi allHeres my auto topup system...its not designed for evaporation (although that would work) but more for the frequent times the power goes out (I live in NSW).My filter does not have enough reserve capacity to hold all the water that retruns from the tanks and the pipework....I would get a massive flood and more importantly, when the power goes back on the sump would pump dry well before the system got going again.40 mm bulkhead in the glass sump...I was worried it wouldnt be enough to cope with the overflow but I did a test today and it worked a treat...the bulk head is connected to some PVC piping that goes through the fish room wall40 mm PVC piping...drains from the glass sump inside the fishroom and dumps the overflow water into a big black Bunings tub (I think theyre 200 litres)The return pump that is sitting inside the Bunnings tub...the pipe you can see goes from a pump and back into the fish roomThe return pipe and the power cord from the pump going back into the fishroomand from the insidethe power outlet for the float switch...this comes already connected...you just plug it inthe float switch...it held in place by a magnet on the inside and outside of the tank...its difficult to get a good picture of itI did a test run today and it worked a treat

Ged
Great work and explanation of the setup. I like the magnet idea for the float switch.
dogboy
Hey mike is the float switch a stand alone unit? I have only seen them already attached to pumps. Great idea if it is. Where did you get it and how much are they?
