gillsysyd
If your unsure, wash them in bleach, leave them to dry and dose in a bucket of prime. However if they're physically clean and have been dry for a while, no need to do anything except a quick rinse. chorrylan
I find potassium permanganate (condys crystals ) useful for this sort of thing. It's an extremely strong oxidant that kills anything organic (like bleach) but unlike bleach... you can tell when it's safe to use your stuff again if the colour has gone and... conveniently safe (or similar agers ) will neutralize it. Link2Hell
if it was ceramic yes but not if it's resinGillsy it all comes down to how he want's to do it andthis is another option to the other ideasif he has serious worries about where it's been becausethe fish all died then the degree of cleaning/steralisingis up to himI have seen viruses that have reappeared in tanks thatwere bombed with copper sulphate and bleachmy opinion is if you worry about it possibley bringing apathogen that much then just bin it
gillsysyd
I honestly thing you have more chance of bringing things in with food and new fish than any ornament.
GundamCichlid
Thanks Chris and GillsysydI was thinking to chuck them in the bin but feel guilty if i was just throwing them out without asking for help
damoq
Boiling isn't an overkill if you have thousands of dollars of fish in your tank! And I know Rendy has some very nice fish!!Cheers,Damo
gillsysyd
To put it in perspective, we wash our dishes at 60c with raw meat that is deadly to our health. Yet we're fine.We are talking about personal opinions here, I think it's overkill and I wouldn't do it however each to their own.
