sleek1
Hello,This is my first tank, my misses (partner) has had 4ft and 6ft tanks in the past but she sold them a long time ago and we have decided to get back into the hobby as we finally got our own place, Sorry for the poor quality photos and if i make any errors in naming the fish because this is my first time, i have to get advice from my partner for most things lol. this is what i currently have and we got our fish at a very good bargain price aswell from what i have been told anyway.we have 2 tanks at the moment and maybe a third if she lets me lol so i can have a breeding tank for my electric yellows. 3FT tank has (sorry for the water being blurry as our container filter crapped itself before we even could set it up and we are using a crappy 500L/HR hang on filter getting a new filter soon)1x Frontosa approx 23cm (was in a tank with heaps of other males before we bought him fins are growing back nicely)2x blue dolphins approx 12cm ( they are pair we think?)1x it is meant to be a Green Sevren approx 12cm but if anyone else thinks different please advise as we are confused because my partner said she hasnt seen one like this because its colours are not there1x eleoti (which we picked up from Andrews shop yesterday in campsie) approx 6cm1x Oscar approx 8-9cm1x pleco approx 8cm1x female figher which is always hiding lol she will come out after the oscar gets a bit bigger1 1/2 foot fry tank has16x Electric Yellows6x flamebacks
Link2Hell
Hi Sleekwelcome to ACEgood to see you also follow the rules of "she who will be obeyed"first move the Betta (Siamese Fighter) into the fry tank before it becomes lunchfor the Frontosa or the Oscarthe 2 C. moori look to be girls to me as a boy would have a more blocked headthe reason your Severum doesn't look like a Severum is because its notthe fish is Herotilapia multispinosa AKA Rainbow cichlidalso the Ellioti is really T. maculapinnishope this doesn't confuse you too much

sleek1
Hello and welcomesome nice looking fish you've got yourself there, guessing in due time you'll be getting a bigger tank?thanks for that.....I think i will probably sell off the fish when they get any bigger except for the Frontosa as that is my Partners fish, this is all we are going to keep for the time being....i might be setting up another tank in due course for the electric yellows for it to be a nice colony tank....i dont know time will tell. Ducksta
Unfortunately the 3' tank is really not big enough for the frontosa, even on his own.Apart from the well being of the fish - a 3' tank isn't made from very thick glass and a kilo+ fish moving at speed (when startled by some lights for example) will go right through it. Which will not just mean dead fish - but possibly ruined carpet/electronics/etc.
rosco
I have my Fronnies in 6x2x2 (I have 7) and they look crowded in that tank. As the duck mentioned they constant smash into the glass (with my dominant male is only around 15cm) both the sides ad roof when they get startled. THe 3' tank would be OK for a small colony of yellows but you need to get at least a 4x2 but preferably a 5x2+ really to keep fronnies happy not to mention the other fish you have in there they do get big and agro.cheersrosco
joller
the reason your Severum doesn't look like a Severum is because its notthe fish is Herotilapia multispinosa AKA Rainbow cichlidits not a rainbow cichlid i think its a blue eyed cichlid cryptoheros spirilumThanks for that.... What is the difference between the Ellioti and the T. maculapinnis???t. maculapinnis used to be known as t. ellioti, they're the same thingif i were you i'd take the oscar, fronnie and dolphins back to the shop, when i'm in a shop and i see a fish that i like i go home and do a bit of reading about its requirements and temperment, lots of fish are well established in the hobby and they arnt going anywhere, once you have a suitable tank you can go and get them pretty much anywhere joel

joller
because keeping large attitudes in a small tank won't work out in the long run, the oscar will probably kill everything because he won't have enough 'me space'the dolphins arn't really suited to a 3 footer either
TimB
I agree, it would be wise to consider purchasing a larger tank.
