J1mmy
its just called backing rubber from a rubber supply store.. Sorry joller not much help.id seal it with pond sealer or something similar to make sure that no chemicals get into the tank. I would have to flush the tank about 10 times though just to be safe
firthy13
because rubber is flexible and stretchy a sealant probably wont take to it very well. it will end up flaking off and going all through your tank. i cant see why you would want to put that in your tank anyway. there are heaps of products designed for aquarium use. more the likely the rubber would be ok, i know i, and most people here, still wouldnt risk it. joller
if you're using a peice of plain black rubber as a backing why not just paint the outside of the back of the tank blacksellys do make a tube of black rubber sealant that i think would do the trick (read the label to make sure but i think it sticks to glass and rubber)i have used cheap suction caps from rubber supply stores, didn't seem to cause harm to my fish but you never know
J1mmy
Ok thank you for your help. It's a black rubber matting that is 3D I plan to build up rocks against the back of my tank as a backdrop but don't really want to rest them on the glass which is why I wanted something inside the tank and didn't want to get a full 3d background as I have about 30kg of Texas holey rock I want to stack along the back of the tank. I might have to look in to other options
Link2Hell
if you want to adhere something to the glass consideruse Metho to clean the glass firstBlack acetic cure silicone (make sure there are no mould inhibitors in it)spread it out over the glass using your finger but spray some windex onyour finger each time you go to spread it and have plenty of newspaperto wipe you finger off with each timeorsilicone a piece of styrofoam in and then paint over with the prefered colourpond sealer, check with pond sealer manufacturer that it won't affect the styrocouple of options to consider
