i have never heard of a aulonocara stuartgranti benga. i know there is a aulonocara stuartgranti maleri island (commonly called yellow regal) which are similar to what you described frankenstrat.

the only peacock that has the common name of benga is aulonocara baenschi. also following the name stuartgranti is usually the collection point. as far as i know benga is not a collection point.

im also not aware of any aulonocara species that have been collected from candy island.

i also could be completely wrong, but would love for someone to clear this up.

Hi Guys

Firthy is spot on (Ducksta will be upset now someone else is spot on)

the Benga is Aulonacara baenshi benga AKA Sunshine Peacock

I beleive it was also traded under Yellow Regal

males show blue to just under the eyes and yellow body

as per Firthy's pic ..... nice fish Firthy :thumb

collection point is Nkhoma Reef I think

the Aulonacara stuartgranti maleri AKA the Maleri Gold

males show blue face to just over the eyes and yellow/gold body

the fish from Kande Is is Aulonacara kandeensis dark blue body

near black and white blaze down the head on the male

ill have to put that in my signature! haha

i have notice a few peacocks going through the auction that were not correctly identified. people who put peacocks in the auction really need to have a 100% id on there fish and have the full name on the lot number.

at the last major auction there were aulonocara jacobfreibergi "something" (cant remember collection point) going through i had never heard of before.

Awesome Nkhomo!

Just to add to what Chris has posted above...

There are two peacocks traded as Aulonocara "Kande Island" One is Aulonocara kandeensis, as Chris has stated (also called Blue Orchid). There is also a variant of A. stuartgranti found at Kande Island, which is one of the black-finned yellow stuartgranti types. Not the same, but reminiscent of stuartgranti "Usisya" (A. flavescens) and stuartgranti "Undu Reef" (Blue Neon).
