Joel
Hey all,I took a few photos today and thought I would share. I might have gone a little over the top actually...All photos are taken on an automatic setting using flash. I wasnt really in the mood to fiddle with the manual settings It is simply point and shoot.Cyphotilapia frontosa 'Mpimbwe'Can anyone sex this one? I have a colony of five and thought all were female, but I am uncertain of this one. He/she spends alot of time in a cave, is the largest and seems to have the largest hump of all of them. However, there has been no breeding since my male jumped out about 5-6 months ago now. He/she is a little washed out of colour as I removed the cave to take the photograph... It is usually a deeper/darker blue than the ones pictured above.Synodontis petricolaI usually have a really hard time trying to phtograph these but today they didnt seem to mind the camera much.Metriaclima kingsizei 'Lupingu'This is one of the males that I have raised from a breeding colony that I sold a while back. They have started to breed around a month ago now.Cyathopharynx furcifer 'Magara'This is the dominant male of a small colony. He is not in breeding colour at the moment and was hard enough to take shots of while he was calm. I keep the colony with a handful of kingsizei for dither fish.Xenotilapia ochrogenys 'Ndole Bay'These are a few fry that I have raised from a colony. They are still pretty smale and a couple of males have just started to show some colour.More ochrogenys fry with a few frucifer 'Magara' fryHope you like them.CheersJoel

brucem
I'd go with male. Are they all the same fish? The kinda all look male to me. Venting is the best way.
Joel
Thanks guys,They are different fish Bruce.Shots 1,3 & 5 are of the same fish (which is what I believe to be female). Shot 4 is of the smallest fish (She has held once before). The suspected male is the second shot.I have someone coming to take a look at them in the next few days. She has eight colonies and knows how to vent sex frontosa so hopefully she can tell me.Will let you know how she goes.Cheers

brucem
Nice! Glad you got a couple of girls there. Any sign of breeding?
Joel
Yeah glad there are some girls because they were sold to me "vent sexed" as 1 male 4 female and 1 unknown... Although they were a little small when I grabbed them. The girls each had one mouthful each when my dominant male was around but havent bred since he jumped about 6 months ago now. They are being moved on next Sunday so hopefully they will breed again for the new owner.Cheers
