J1mmy
Hi guys,I recently bought a 300L tank as my initial 3 footer was not coping with the number of fish I wanted.I have a 2000L/hour external canister filter with 25mm input and output pipes. I really want to have my heater outside my tank or at least hidden from view.Do you think that I can fit a hydor eth inline 300w? or will i restrict the flow too much as I can't find much info on how much flow the heater can take. the actual fitting size on the heater is only 16mm thought there are some you tube clips of people altering 19mm tubing to fit.Is there a simpler way to have the heater outside my tank and I am missing it? does my filter even need the 25mm input and output pipes?Any help or opinion is definitely appreciatedthanksJ1mmy
firthy13
a little more information about your canister filter would be good. like brand and model. 25mm seems way to big for only 2000L/H. they shouldnt restrict flow to much i would imagine. but i know that the inline heater are more efficient at lower flow rates.if you really did want to use this inline heater, another alternative is to hide a small submersible pump/powerhead in with some rocks or behind plants and run a hose out of the tank, cut in your inline heater and run the outlet of the heater back in to the tank. you are hiding one piece of equipment but introducing another. seems silly i know, but i think a small pump could be easier to disguise then a 25-30cm heater longer if your using an eheim jager?
