Cannula
Hi everyone, Could anyone please give me some advice on my female betta? Originaly I had one Male betta in a medium fish bowl, and he was looking very lonely so I thought we could get him a nice female, all was well untill she ate his fins. We added cover for him(just some plants), and fed her more, but she killed the poor thing the other day. Should I try again with a bigger male? thankyou for any advise, im new at keeping bettas. crazedv8fan
I wouldn't be keeping a pair together unless you plan on spawning them (and they are ready!). They can turn in an instant from best friends to worst enemies and in a bowl, there isn't much hiding space. Brett
23Skidoo
I always seperate my males and females, in a big enough tank they can be kept together, ,maybe 4ft or bigger? They won't fight to the death like two males but if she isn't ready to breed she'll kill him or he'll kill her. In my experience it tends to be the males who come off worst like this, but if she's into breeding it'll be the female who comes off worst. That isn't law it's just my experience.
