GreekStylez
Hi All, I am just wondering if there is such a thing as excessive filtration? At the moment i am carrying out an experiment on a 2 1/2 foot tank with an eheim 2213 and an aquaclear 200 connected to it, is this too much? What are all your opinions on filtration Thanks
Chuckmeister
IMO you can't ever have too much filtration though you can have too much water flow. Doe's your tank look like a whirlpool!!!!??? If not it should be ok.

mianos
As long as your fish are not stressed by the current it's probably not possible. I used to have a 1500LPH canister on a 130 litre tank. As long as you direct the water and leave some stiller areas, for example with a custom spraybar, to manage the direction, depending on the fish, most will be fine. 23Skidoo
I've found in heavily planted tanks too much filtration kills the plants, it's not the water flow but the amount of media for bacteria to live on, too much bacteria = too many nutrients being taken out, hence dead plants. But in un-planted tanks i don't think there is too much.
