Looking good Craig, have you tried using a small pvc tube/pipe and putting the food through that? Without soaking it..

For all fish to get an equal ability at getting food, I need to be able to hit it all in at the same time. To use a pipe would cause the food to sink, and then to leave the pipe one after another which would give the dominate fish more chance to get a greater proportion of food.

When I use the little containers, I use four containers for three tanks on the same system, and each container only soaks long enough for me to get water into first second third and four container, it is then fed in, first second third and fourth in quick order. It would probably be more accurate to say the food is wet before being fed and not soaked.

In this way food does not get to the filter skimmer/overflow, and all food goes in at the same time, which will limit the dominance the top fish can bring to bear and gain an unfair proportion of food. If he stops to chase, he losses his chance to eat. Consequently it is a reasonably equal race to get to the food, and apart from the bustle, there is no conspecific aggression.

They still try to gain an unfair advantage by jumping and getting their head into container as I lower it, which is why I could take the shots.

Thanks for the comments guys.

Here's an alternative reason as to why I "soak" my food;

And a couple more shots of them trying to be first at the food.

I don't think people ever believed me when I told them how these fish carry on, or that I couldn't get their extreme behaviour across to them.

I got proof now. :thumb
