John,

You have an awesome set-up. I am extremely envious. Just a quick question, how do you go with the summer heat in the garage? I noticed you have two roller doors at the front of the room - are they insulated?

I have a similar room and cannot work out a way to prevent the heat transfer through the roller door.

Again, well done and your fish look outstanding!

You can do two things; That silver, blue one side silver the other, insulation material can be attached to the inside of the garage door silver side out. And, though not a good look, a sheet can be hung like a curtain to the outside of the door to prevent direct sun from hitting it. I guess the latter could be done in other more professional media as the principle will be the same, and it will look better than a sheet. If the sun hits the door you will have heating issues in summer and a warm fish room in winter - with a heated garage door.

John, electricity is set to go up by 6% every year for the next ten years. You might want to consider reverse air con to cool too if the room gets too hot (I guess that's three things). A couple of hundred should cover the electricity costs once the unit is installed.

Hi John,

How do you heat the tanks?

Thanks.

Tanks in middle of room have 1x 300watt jaeger heater and rest all have heaters they are set at 24 degrees to take the chill off them. Since putting the middle tanks in i have found the room seems to hold temperature better as water takes a while to cool down.

Also room is double brick with 12ft ceiling height seems to help.

Cheers John

Had the pleasure of visiting John and Coni a few weeks ago. I felt like a kid in a lolly shop :lol3:

The setup is great. Extra clean, fish all in good nick, room was warm without being hot and I was there in the heatwave.

Took home some nice babies and left some with J and C.

Oh and big bad Waz was the as well!

Kudos
