Link2Hell
do you still have a spare male you can add back to the tank to take some focus off the females other than that I think you may need crowd the tank with other fish for distraction Chris
sandy001
They are in a standard 4ft tank with a colony of 10 C azureus. I recently added another male back to the colony but he only lasted 24hrs. I will have to look at added some other fish for distraction. Thanks Dave

intern1
why not add some electric yellows 10 of them just to get the distraction from the females. I know it will cause the tank to be over stocked but give it a try worse thing happens is that you have to remove them. Or if you have another tank place the females in there let them build territories and hiding places then add the males so at least the females will have territories established and the male will concentrate not on the females but establishing a territory
Link2Hell
It sounds like the males will need to be seperated and only added to the tank after the females have been conditioned for spawning then removed after he breeds each time and I would be looking to use one of the sub dominant males I would even only add him to the females while I was there and remove him overnight the other alternate would be a single species breeding tank with seperator grid where he can share the love but not the aggression drastic moves but when you develop this sort of history they are the last options Chris
