cooder
Im thinking about ordering some "Geo-Liquid, mineral magic". Anyone know anything about this product? Its made by this company called "Flex" (some jap company). By what it said in the instruction booklet that i got from one of my LFS owners said it was good for what i need. Which is conditioners (salts ect.), buffers for africans. (tangs to be exact). Any opinions would be great! Cooder
pseudotrop
I've been using it for awhile in my tang tank - seems quite good. Do a google search on it, should get some opinions about how good/bad it is. That's about all I have to say, oh, it will make your water 'murky' for a few hours but it goes crystal clear after that
benfarrow
It is very good, I use it. But it won't buffer your water, no matter what version you buy it is all the same! - tropical- south american or African etc. But over time I do see a positive diference in the fish. So for the price of under $15 it is very good. Age of aquariums also sells a similar product which is just as good named 'easy life'.
Lepperfish
Good in what way? Are my tanks suffering from not using this product? If my fish can benefit from using this product I would like to know how. Not just from reading online or what the marketing team of the product tell me, from actually hobbyists that use Geo liquid. cooder
Thanks, funny, the post seemed to move to the technical section when i first posted it n the disscusisions part. thanks mods ( whoever did it ) Anwsering your questions lepper, It finds and eliminates contaminants and adds balanced amounts of minerals into your water. It attracts the contaminants and they stick to the Geo liquid partical and they cant escape. it does this in a micro scale so u cant see it (of course!) if u have bad water quality get some! Well I think i will order some of it tommorow. So what your sayin ben is that i still need a cichlid salt to keep my tank at the right hardness/Ph? Can I put it in all at once or do i have to do it gradually so as not to shock the fish?? I think this will be good for my tank as it has tannins and my plants are looking pretty sad too. One of my rainbows has a fungal (i think?) growth on its mouth. It is white and kinda fuzzy like mould. I cant tell you the species of the rainbow because I netted it in a floodway. It stays in a dark corner of the tank and doesnt swim at all!! T.Y for all comments Cooder
Rod54
I've used it.... It's clay...acts as a flocculant I believe it replicates what happens in a lot of rivers after heavy rain Does no harm for fish to be in muddy water every now and again....don't have any scientific proof.....but I admit.....I like the theory Don't believe it will fix mouth fungus.....but wont do any harm....try a commercial remedy. CThompson
I too have used this product, in the past when it first came out. I believe that there are positive benifits to its use but can't honestly say I experienced anything that I could see. Perhaps it has more value for tanks that are not maintained 100%. There is another product on similar lines that is meant to be better than Geo Liquid, called "Easy-Life". Age of Aquariums sell it.
cooder
Thanks, Should i still use a buffer and salts to keep the ph/hardness ect. to the right standard for tangs? I also need to buy another ph testing kit so would anyone be able to recommend any good ones? I will have a look at that product that you mentioned and no, i dont maintain my tank to 100% percent standard but it is my frst time having cichlids and it is my first time having cichlids and my first time having to maintain a tank of this size, so, i think this kind of product will benefit me. I had a look on "tanganyika gateway" on this forum and does anyone know where it ships from? It had some really great fish on there for reasonable prices. Cody You'll need a GH/KH test kit too, to measure hardness so that you can gauge how much of the conditioning salts you should add to your tap/tank water. pH test kit - I use API High range test kit. I'm sure any brand that goes high enough would be sufficient for your needs. Tang gateway ships from somewhere in Qld - same day delivery - I recommend them as I've had two good shipments from them of live fish.
cooder
Thanks, Ive been looking for a GH/kh testing kit for AGES now and cant find them in any of my pet stores. would i be able to get one from tang gateway? or similar sites? T.Y for that link. ill now no where to get a good ph testing kit. does it use a colour chart? Can anyone reccomend good buffers or salts? heard of SeaChem Cichlid lake salt. seems to be a good and good quality product. anyone used that? any good? benfarrow
Thanks guys, we do sell it but price wise your better of buying from Ben at Age of Aquariums - much stronger buying power. He does sell geo but I would get some 'easy life'. Ben
cooder
SHOULD I STILL USE A SALT OR BUFFER WHEN USING GEO LIQUID OR EASY LIFE?!?!?!?!?!?! I will have a look at "easy life" on the age of aquariums. i will probably order some today (or geo liquid)
CThompson
Should i still use a buffer and salts to keep the ph/hardness ect. to the right standard for tangs? You should absolutely use salts and buffers, the Geo Liquid/EasyLife are not in any way similar products to salts and buffers. I also need to buy another ph testing kit so would anyone be able to recommend any good ones? My yardstick has been when looking at brands for water testing is this; they mostly have a shelf life, so if they come from overseas (probably by boat), this has eaten into the shelf life. That means a locally made product may have advantage. From my knowledge, there is no "best" water test kit brand, as there are for filters and dry foods for example, so the water test kits I always buy are the Aquasonic brand, an Australian company who make a lot of products (and also sourse OS), including a range of water test kits, which I think they produce themselves. If your lfs don't supply I'm sure sponsors will. I will have a look at that product that you mentioned and no, i dont maintain my tank to 100% percent standard but it is my frst time having cichlids and it is my first time having cichlids and my first time having to maintain a tank of this size, so, i think this kind of product will benefit me. Honestly, as best as I understand it, I think a product like EasyLife would benifit to all fish keepers, including those who "think" they are 100% (me included), as we all get lazy , or there are things we don't understand that Easy-Life will smooth over and make better . The issue is with most Africans, they are just so darn hardy, that it is difficult to justify an extra expense in an already expensive hobby (and getting more so - electricity). I fully support your decision to use it, and would go for the Easy-Life as first choice, as Ben above also recommends. Can anyone reccomend good buffers or salts? heard of SeaChem Cichlid lake salt. seems to be a good and good quality product. anyone used that? any good? I use have used SeaChem salts and Aquasonic's buffer for years. Craig
Rod54
I know Geo liquid is a Montmorillonite or bentonite Clay in solution and it is most likely Easy-life is similar I note in the data on Easy life they say it lowers conductivity of the water Very desirable for South/central American cichlids.....not so desirable for Hard water Rift lake fish Personally I'd use it for softwater Riverine fish....not for Hard water Lake species which need an increased conductivity (higher dissolved solids=Harder water) I also believe it may be natural for water to get cloudy in rivers.....but much less likely in lakes??? but whilst it is more of a naturally occurring issue in rivers there maybe health benefits for lake species too!! Some products sold for use in cat litter trays is bentonite clay..... Clay in solution is also used in the Health Industry as a drink and also face mask as it is purported to have health benefits??? I'm not suggesting you start your morning with a glass of kitty litter in water!

E4G13M4N
Always wondered about Easy-Life went to their web page once to read up on it... says : its beneficial for filters yet claims it has no bacteria in the bottle, plus other miracles that it is supposed to perform, sounds more like a glorified water conditioner to me Here
Rod54
This+ water = easylife Thery could say it's clay.....but that would take away the mystery of this fantastic product! Clay info
