wolvo23
Hi just needing some info. I have a sump ready to filter 8, 4foot tanks and dont know wich laguna pump to go with,i am looking at the max flo 3500 wich does 3700 litres phour with a max head hight of 1.9mtrs and the max flo 6000 wich does 5900 lires p hour and a max head hight of 3.5 mtrs. What i need to know is my top tanks are 1.9 to the top will the 3500 do the job being at its max head hight? Thanks.
DFishkeeper
The pump will not do its maximum flow at its maximum head, the website should have a flow chart showing the flow you can expect at different head heights. You also need to allow for loss of flow due to friction caused by your pipes and any elbows/bends. If in doubt, go with a bigger pump and build in a tap allowing you to return any excess flow to the sump. Cheers, Doug
Phenomena
My understanding is that at the max head, 0 lph is pumped. So for the 3500, it does 3700lph at 0m height, and 0lph at 1.9m. My rough estimate will be: - 8 tanks x 220lt = 1760lt - aiming 4-5x turn over per tank = 8800lph - account for height, pipe restrictions, etc. I'd add another 2000lph - so I'd be looking at 10,000lph pump - the pump max height is very important too.
