Andrew
Hey all, I just checked on the pair of Cuban Cichlids that I bought at the auction. They've laid a motherload of eggs!!! I have to say that I am totally amazed at the number of eggs that came out of the 5cm female - mind you, she has been as big as a house for a week now. Hopefully, the pair bond is strong and we'll have some baby Cubans ready for the hobby soon! Cheers, Andrew.

I wonder if Mr Cuban celebrated fatherhood with a cigar :lol
Link2Hell
Andrew real happy that they have spawned for you I wouldn't consider them pricy now Anita and it will be good to see them in the hobby & shops again soon I know the original importer is always happy to see them Chris
Andrew
Thanks Chris, I agree - I didn't think I paid too much for them, given how rarely one comes across them these days. Besides, it's all about what it's worth to the person buying it - even if something's too pricey, if I want it, I'll buy it. So far so good: The googs are now wrigglers and the mother has moved them to a new spot. Unusually though (I think), she is even keeping the male at bay from the bubs. Anyone had this experience with Cubans? I expect them to be free-swimming very soon, so fingers crossed. Andrew.

Andrew
Update: Free-swimming and haven't lost one yet! The female won't let the male anywhere near the fry, even though he's three times her size!
