cooder
Hi guys, I was just wondering if a $200 plus canister is worth it . I purchased it for my new 4fter. (there will be photos over the nxt few days in the photography section) Its a aqua one aquis 1000 canister. the seller said that canisters are the best around but i have had a look at the instruction booklet and it looks really complicated. not to mention EXPENSIVE!!!!! Any tips or info would be appreciated! Cooder
tranced
they are pretty good, generally quiet, lots of media space, provides directable flow, easy to clean and the best thing, less clutter in your tank. so yeah the only real downside i guess is cost. personally i use two cannisters for my decent sized tanks just in case one has a problem. Josh
Canister are simple filters. Dont be worried about the instructions, It will easy to run and set-up. A $200 canister is still a cheap canister. They certainly arent the cheapest out there though
fryparty
aqua one "the best out there" i dont want to burst your bubble but imagine the opposite. it sounds like your just starting in the world of canisters so its a start anyway. fill the canister with tank water. put the inlet valve in the tank then suck the water through the outlet until almost full. flick it on and should run instantly. PS!! for a 4fter, i dont look at aqua one designs but i dont think a 200$ filter is adequate for a 4fter. I run an eheim pro and eheim classic for my 4fter. If your interested in selling your aqua one. I have 2x2213 eheim classics *used* with new impeller+ shafts. one is 10 months old, one is 1 month old. they up for sale $200 for both. E4G13M4N
Personally if i was puting an Aqua One on a 4' tank i would be going for the 1200 but then thats just me However i only use Eheims and Fluvals anyway on my personal tanks but have used the Aqua Ones in the past and the 1000 is under powered IMO

Cichlabxr
If your tank is a standard 4fter it should be fine. You'll get adequate water turnover of 3-4 times an hour even if it only operates at 80% of its rating. Regards Martin
