Vukie.
Hi all recently moved into a new house and my tank is in the lounge room. The canister is a bit too Loud and I want to quieten it down. Has anyone done this before? It's inside a cabinet so I was thinking of lining the inside with some sort of foam sound deadener im hoping places like Clark rubber sell it. Just wanted to know what works or shoul I just invest in a better quieter canister?

Ur canister is loud? there must be something wrong with ur canister, all the canisters ive had are quiet as, even the cheap ones like aqua nova, what brand is urs???? or maybe you need to change ur impellor but anyways theres this guy here http://www.masa.asn.au/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=202412 that did that on his tank dont know if it deadend the noise but looks it would a little bit
tranced
the impeller can sort of wear into an oval shape and cause it to rattle. also i had a magnet on one crack which made it noisy.
Vukie.
the canister works fine, its just the vibration/ humming noise it makes is too loud for me and get annoying when trying to watch TV, ill probably do what that guy did in the link and try to sound deaden the inside of the cabinet
m0oks
Try adding styro foam underneath the canister. This should allow less vibration on the cabinet. Hth.
