intern1
I have been got these species March last year and now they are starting to colour up. Recently i have bought Ad Konings new Mawlawi Cichlid book the 4th Ed and I decided to look up the Protomelas taeniolatus "likoma Is" but it wasnt there. Although i have another book Cichlidrens CIchlids: The Pictorial guide which has the fish in the book. I have found various sites such as: http://www.verse914.com/PTTigerGallery.html http://www.malawimayhem.com/profile_show.php?id=79 http://www.livefishdirect.com/store.php?fid=124 http://www.cichlid-forum.com/profiles/species.php?id=1365 which do have have the species. I was wondering if anyone has more information on the species and if it is a true species or cross?
danpri
Tangerine Tigers have been around a long time, they must have changed them to Likoma Island at some point. Any Protomelas info should apply.
Andrew
It is a naturally occuring population of P. taeniolatus found around Likoma Island. There are many variants of this species throughout Lake Malawi, the Red Empress being the one found at Namalenji Island. A nice fish - easy to keep and breed and worth holding onto. Gombe
Gombe P. similis have a solid horizontal mid body line on silver body as the juv / female pattern P. fenestratus Taiwan reef have thick vertical bars on silve/gray body as the juv / female pattern any pics ? They are similis with the horizontal line on the female and male. I was just refering to the male. Very similar colours. 1 stunning fish. The funny thing was that I only wanted to start the bidding and I was nodding off. Acually thought I bid on Neolamprolongus sililis. Was thinking ther cheap, why is no one bidding, got quite a shock when paying for them. Not dissapointed though Cleaned out a 4ft standard . get picks up soon
