m0oks
hey guys! Ill be getting some new tanks soon and wanted to know what colour did you paint your background? Ive done some research on here and people say that green brings out the colour on the fish more. Is it true? I was thinking of painting the tanks dark grey o aqua green. Black was my 3rd choice but notice the fish get more darker. I guess its just peoples prefences on what they like.

parkesg
I have mine black also, and agree too dark. Makes taking pics very difficult. I think a light blue is good, esp. on a 2 foot deep tanks. Grant

Frenzy
What's the best way to get the paint off? I have a tank that has a mirror background and I don't like it. Tried to scrape it off but will probably damage the tank.
m0oks
paint stripper will do the job. Mirror glass would be weak for a tank to hold water in it.
Citypainter
I painted one grey. (River rock.) Texture and colour. It was too plain. I recently just painted an old pale blue background. Stripped with a scraper and repainted it in Colour Botany Blue. Looks great.
YAL05T
I have all black but darker blues look quite nice too. I just use a blade type scraper to remove the paint when I change them. The type of fish you are having in the tank would determine the colour used too.

Was a bit concerned about toxicity but obviously you try not to put any in the tank. 2 different scrapers haven't made a dent in the stuff whatever it is It's not mirror glass BTW. It's 10mm glass with some sort of paint job to give the mirrored effect. Confuses the hell out of the fish.
