tootie
I've not seen my breeding male meleagris now since yesterday morning. This is unusual as he is a bit shyer than his female but is always out for food. I am a bit concerned he has got stuck in his shell. Normally I see a little bit of him sticking out but nothing. I have tried shaking the shell by dipping it upside down in and out of the water. No smell coming from shell however if he is dead it may take a couple of days to decay - is this right? Is it poss for him to get stuck in the shell? They have a round spiral bit at the bottom. Should I try to break the shell incase he can't get out? I did a water change yesterday and when replacing the water I used the garden hose to fill up - could I have freaked him out and he has went too deep into his shell? Any suggestions would be great. Thanks. Tootie

tootie
Thanks Ben. I am not too up on drilling etc... I also have proper snail shells (larger ones), which don't seem so 'spirally'. How big do you make the holes? Anyway, good news is that my partner phoned me and he is out of the shell swimming around - very happy (me and the fish)!!!!
